Bajwa was crowned Miss Pune in 2005, and after her success on the ramp, she did a few modelling assignments part-time while she was still studying. She was spotted by Kuchipudi Venkat, the director of the Telugu movie Modati Cinima (2005), when she was on assignment for a ramp show in Hyderabad. She was offered a role in the movie and agreed to film it after completing her 12th-grade exams. She excelled academically while completing her English Literature degree from Symbiosis International University in Pune.（db）
